Doing our homework on the Great Taste Trail

What an awesome 30hours we have had doing our homework for our up and coming Kiwi Journeys guided bike trips.

We are super spoilt to be able to ride straight out the front door and explore this magic region.

Nancy loaded ready to go

First stop WOW museum and we were totally Wowed!

30years on where Nelson began the WOW (world of wearable art) story
First coffee stop of the day at the WOW cafe

Further up the road the brand new “Pics Peanut Butter World”. What a success story and super cool spot.

The new factory turning out peanut butter in 45minutes from go to wo
Of course had to make a little and sample it. Can’t believe it is only made with peanuts and salt – no added extras

Betty and Nancy needed to get the wheels turning after two great stops.

20km we are were at the Grape Escape for lunch

Then the drought…………….not until you are out and about you see how dry the Nelson and Tasman region is.

The Waimea river looking incredibly low

Taking the opportunity to explore new places we visited a winery, that we didn’t even know existed – Kaimira Winery

Super pretty and the grape harvesting starting this week

Another few stops at Brightwater before a refuel stop at the Wakefield Hotel.

Being a good old southern girl you have got to love these pubs still selling Speights in tallies

Then we made our way back to Hope where we had our wonderful digs for the night at Pear Orchard. What a truly magic setting, fantastic accommodation and wonderful hosts Timo and Olivia.

The chooks who gave us great free range eggs for breakfast

After brekkie this morning back on the bikes in beautiful weather making our way back to Nelson.

Cruise ship at Port

All that in 30 hours and we were back home in sunny Nelson.

The Nevs Betty and Nancy are definitely loving life and living the dream this summer.

  2. Great bike ride and shows that you don’t have to go far around the Nelson region for some great sites to explore.
We are moving back to Nelson in June as long as our parents stay well and the police can find my niece safe and sound…. Now that my sister has reported her missing!!
Hopefully we may catch up sometime .😊
